Looking through some of my late Mum’s memories, I stumbled upon this poem which she wrote in remembrance of my Father, and the words ring so true for me today …
Though distance far doth keep thee from my sight
Yet still my soul doth yearn, my heart delight;
As all my thoughts do turn to thee, sweet love
Whate’er doth come my way, thou art above.
All other things that fill my hours, my days
But life hath sent us out on different ways.
It seems that fate hath parted us, my dear
But memories still bring thee ever near.
No other love or kiss can e’er replace
The longing for the thrill of thy embrace.
How I do grieve, but weeping doth not heal
The pain which parting from thee made me feel.
Be faithful dearest, spare a thought for me
And come to me if e’er thou should’st be free!
